White wedding dresses, the now or a thing of the past?

For most brides the thought of the big white dress fills them with utter joy, but more and more brides are now opting for a less traditional route.
So are white wedding dresses about to be a thing of the past or will they always hold a place in the wedding?

Personally I chose a white dress for two reasons, one was family pressure and the other was I simply fell in love with it! My mother was insisting that if I didn't have a big white princess dress I'd regret it, I always argued that I never was a very 'princessy' girl and my wedding wasn't the most traditional anyway! However it turned out that once I laid eyes on my wedding dress I knew instantly it was 'the one' and I simply had to have it. I honestly think it could have been a dodgy shade of green and I still would have brought it!

I spoke to a few brides to be and a few ladies who are already married while writing this blog entry and was told a few reasons for and against!
A brilliant reason against the tradition was from a lovely lady who said she had red as she didn't feel white was appropriate as she already had 6 children and never saw herself wearing white. She simply felt red suited her complexion better than white or ivory does and is very happy she braved her choice even though she initially had her doubts.
As every story has two sides a reason for the traditional white dress was 'It was always the colour I dreamed of when I was little'.

I honestly don't think white wedding dresses will become a memory from the past but do think they may be a less common thing. More and more brides are daring to be different and I for one am all for it!
So what colour will your perfect dress be?!
